The overall impression was extremely poor, and I felt very disrespected. First, I had to fill out a long-winded questionnaire in a cold, unwelcoming place, including on-the-spot English translation exercises (Chinese to English and English to Chinese). The interviewer was also cold and distant. The work atmosphere seemed very poor (colleagues hardly talked to one another), and it was extremely quiet. Design and planning are handled together, including graphic design, visual merchandising, and event planning. The workload seems endless, yet employees are expected to leave on time, with no overtime pay—in effect, you have to take the work home because the electricity and water are shut off as soon as working hours end. The second interview was even more unreasonable: before it, I had to prepare “two” event-planning PowerPoint presentations at home, including design drafts. I felt this was very disrespectful. Unless you are especially fond of the Issey Miyake brand, this job would probably be very difficult to endure. This position seems to have been posted for half a year or more. Finding someone for it would truly be a miracle. If the company genuinely wants to find someone, management needs to reflect on its practices.
