Pros

The colleagues are very nice

Cons

1. Overtime is not allowed: work after 6:30 p.m. is unpaid, but the work is often impossible to finish, and I never left work on time during my employment.

2. At the time, I was paid the minimum hourly wage to do photo retouching and graphic design work (which differed from the duties of the position I had applied for). The boss knew nothing about design but had plenty of opinions, did not respect professional expertise, and often made wild suggestions. When discussing photo retouching with employees, the boss would even reach directly across an employee’s head (with the employee sitting and the boss standing).

3. Although I was a part-time worker, my workload was just as large as that of a full-time employee (and even greater than that of the full-time administrative staff). Part-time workers were told that this was a rare opportunity to learn, but in reality it was exploitation. Some people even had to go home after work to continue doing unfinished tasks (and the work done at home was unpaid).

4. The boss was very demanding about all employees writing daily and weekly work reports, but frequently changed the formats—twice in one week at one point—and required all previous daily and weekly reports to be reformatted as well. The daily reports were not carefully read, and the files attached to the forms were never reviewed (as could be seen from the questions in the replies). The standards were inconsistent: sometimes the boss would suddenly lash out over a particular issue, while the same thing happening in the past had received no reaction.

5. The boss would open a snack, eat one piece, and then throw the rest to an employee, telling them to finish it.

6. Various unusual ways of asking people to resign, or harassment after they had resigned.

7. The boss did not understand social media (and would ask for or demand some very wild things), yet ran a digital marketing company.

8. The boss’s mood was unpredictable and they would occasionally lash out without warning or add new rules (about meetings, adjustments to work duties, and so on).
