Observations at the Hsinchu Big City store
The salary paid by the company does not comply with the Labor Standards Act.
The base salary is just over NT$20,000,
and the rest is cobbled together through various additions to make up the agreed salary.
Whenever the department store has an event, there is excessive overtime,
but there is absolutely no overtime pay.
For example, during the anniversary sale, working from 7 a.m. until 8 or 9 p.m. is considered early.
The following month's salary is still unchanged.
Even if sales are higher during the month of the anniversary sale,
there is no bonus.
The year-end bonus is not even paid for a full month.
In particular, the head chef surnamed Huang is frequently absent from his post during working hours.
He does not pay attention to the progress of the work at hand.
As soon as he answers a phone call, he goes out to smoke.
There are only six or seven days off each month.
The head chef also chooses to take leave during the busiest holidays first,
regardless of whether there is a consecutive holiday period; the same applies during the Lunar New Year.
There are no bonuses for the three major holidays, only Mi-Ge gift vouchers.
Moreover, there are many rats inside the factory.
