Traditional family business: The older-generation members have not yet gradually retired, making it difficult for newcomers to stand out, and the company is indeed somewhat conservative in its thinking.
Compensation and benefits: The salary and benefits at the Yilan headquarters can only be described as acceptable. After all, the company mainly employs local people, and regional consumption is indeed relatively frugal.
The benefits and compensation for overseas assignments are fairly good. Why do I say that? The salary is negotiated by the individual, so whether it is high or low still depends on one’s own ability. However, at least this company is fairly transparent about compensation: the salary ranges for each job title are as clear and straightforward as labor and health insurance details.
Furthermore, employees on overseas assignments receive six trips back to Taiwan during years 1–3 of employment and eight trips starting from the fourth year. This is extremely rare in traditional industries. The accommodation is also generally acceptable—at least it is clean and well equipped—and a cleaning person is usually arranged. Overall, I still feel that this is a relatively rare company with above-average benefits.
