Despite applying for someone without food and beverage experience, the interview was for an administrative position, responsible for front-desk administration, assisting students with their coursework, and designing and producing teaching materials. They also required excellent English test scores. After starting the job, all work was done under the direction of one teacher and consisted of cleaning and miscellaneous tasks. Then, I was immediately asked to cook dinner for all the children, without any prior training. After a brief explanation, they simply “handed you a tablet and told you to look it up and figure it out yourself”!!! A newcomer was left solely responsible for preparing dinner for everyone, with no one checking in at all. The teacher’s attitude when help was sought was also extremely poor.

Happy Marian emphasizes that foreign teachers also bake cakes for the children, so they consider it normal to require employees to do this; apparently, this is the American style (???). For a well-known private cram school, is this level of food-service management really good for the children...
