The good:
Several hundred to several thousand in the three-festival bonuses
An annual bonus of approximately one month’s salary
The office environment is comfortable and clean
Free dinner when working overtime until 7:30 p.m.
Free taxi ride home when working overtime until 10 p.m.
The starting salary for entry-level translation-related positions is fairly decent.
New employee training courses are provided
The bad:
Resignation must be submitted two months in advance; for managerial positions, employees may even be required to give six months’ notice
One-year renewable contracts; if you do not complete the contract, you must pay a penalty of up to three months’ salary
There is a non-compete clause, but the company does not pay half of the salary to departing employees restricted by the clause as required by the Labor Standards Act
The salary includes “prepaid overtime pay,” so there is no additional overtime pay
Therefore, overtime worked beyond regular hours can only be compensated with time off the following day
Employees other than translators must take turns staffing the front desk at lunchtime and cleaning out the refrigerator on Fridays
Employees must take turns working half-days on Saturdays
