Pros

For entry-level overseas sales staff (bachelor’s degree), the salary range is NT$32,000–38,000. The job mainly involves following up on customers’ orders and urging customers to place orders for new products. There is a meeting every morning at 10:00, during which the PM reports on the progress of each product, and the chairman reviews the performance of the sales teams in each region.

Travel opportunities depend on the unit. Those handling Southeast Asia or Japan travel more frequently. The company provides sales staff with an order-management system, so they do not need to enter orders or arrange shipping schedules themselves. Whether a supervisor is easy to get along with depends on the department; some supervisors particularly like having employees prepare reports and attend meetings. The sales teams are currently divided into four regions: Region 1: the United States, Australia, France, and Germany; Region 2: China, the Middle East, Russia, and India; Region 3: Hong Kong, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and smaller countries in Europe; Region 4: Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore. (Sales staff in Region 1 are unlikely to travel.)

The chairman of this company is highly capable in sales and can therefore pinpoint sales-related problems. However, the heads of the regional sales teams are not as capable as the chairman, so employees often need to prepare reports for presentation to him. Experienced salespeople with extensive hands-on experience may feel unable to fully apply their abilities here. The work is fairly straightforward and simple in each unit, so there is limited opportunity to build sales experience and skills. Since there are not many opportunities to deal directly with customers, the role is somewhat like a sales-support position. Good English skills are essential for working here.

The work environment is fairly comfortable, but it is still a 10-minute walk from Xihu MRT Station.

A decent job, though not outstanding.
