The so-called engineering position is a terrible trap. If you have other opportunities as a contractor, do not come here under any circumstances. They call it a diverse workforce, but in reality they just want to save on taxes and employee training, and find a non-permanent employee to take the blame. The technology is outdated, but the manager has no understanding of the workload that outdated technology creates. The technology is not open to discussion: they use vague terms to estimate time, but the results must be precise. They set a bunch of absurd rules that keep everyone pointlessly busy, arrange tasks in a completely illogical order, and the manager has absolutely no ability to track or organize work. Do not waste your life here acting out a charade to satisfy the manager’s demands. The manager’s character is vile. Evil people eventually get what they deserve; it just hasn’t happened yet. Do not end up working under such a terrible manager. I hope this awful manager gets what they deserve. If not, then this company simply has no judgment.
