Labor and health insurance, 6% labor pension contribution, and occupational accident insurance are provided. There are two days off per week, although overtime is sometimes required on Saturdays. An ON-CALL system is in place, with employees taking turns. The salary is NT$29K, structured as NT$22K base salary + NT$5K performance bonus (as long as there are no violations and no equipment or property is damaged, this is guaranteed; applicants who lack confidence in this should not apply) + NT$2K perfect-attendance bonus (taking leave from the 1st to the 15th results in a NT$1K deduction; taking leave from the 16th to the 30th results in a NT$1K deduction). The year-end bonus is guaranteed to be one month’s salary.
The company has 70 employees, but employees are only seen at company gatherings; otherwise, they are rarely seen. Employees clock in and out directly at UMC. The company has ten cooperating departments (etching, thin films, diffusion, lithography, process, etc.). Only after being hired will you learn which department you will be assigned to for PM maintenance work. The work consists of following SOPs and learning from senior technicians. Do not do anything beyond the prescribed procedures. Violations are prohibited—for example, information security violations. At UMC, being caught carrying a smartphone or USB drive results in a permanent ban from entering the site and immediate expulsion from UMC. Since this company is an on-site contractor at UMC, this constitutes a direct violation and the company will dismiss you immediately without severance pay.
Each department has limited funds allocated, so weekday overtime does not necessarily come with overtime pay and may instead be converted into compensatory leave. Weekend overtime is mostly paid as overtime, with a small portion converted into compensatory leave. Each year begins on January 1. Salaries are reviewed on February 5, with an annual adjustment of 3–6%. If your salary is not adjusted, the company will clearly identify the reasons; usually, a lack of adjustment is due to equipment damage or violations. If you perform well at the UMC site, you may have the opportunity to transfer internally and become a UMC equipment engineer. At present, 20 people have successfully transferred internally.
The company hopes applicants who are enthusiastic, motivated, and genuinely interested will apply. If you are applying indiscriminately, please do not come for an interview. Those interested in future career planning and equipment engineering are welcome to come and learn. If you are willing to learn and are not afraid of hard work, you are welcome to join the company.
Converting compensatory leave into cash would be more practical.
