1. The company has branches or offices all over the world. If you work hard and earn your supervisor’s favor, you may have opportunities to travel abroad and broaden your horizons.

1. There are quite a few entrenched old-timers who contribute little and are not very interested in adopting new technologies to improve efficiency. Under incompetent managers, there are also plenty of petty dictators who treat trivial matters as absolute authority. Managers like doing paperwork, seemingly more than improving efficiency and quality.

2. On the surface, the company complies with the Labor Standards Act, but in private it asks managers to semi-coerce employees into not submitting overtime forms and instead taking compensatory leave (this may also be a common problem in Taiwan).

3. The company’s IT department is terrible. It is incapable of building new systems or improving the templates of purchased systems, and has no time to integrate or maintain the knowledge bases and databases of the various business units. A large number of systems cannot exchange important information with one another or interoperate, adding to employees’ workloads and reducing efficiency. The official website is constantly down or inaccessible; even university interns would probably do a better job.

4. The vendors operating the employee cafeteria still have room for improvement; the food is either too greasy or too salty.

5. Employee turnover is fairly high, so it is often necessary to find a new contact person for coordination, which affects work efficiency.
