Pros

Before the pandemic, management was generous, occasionally providing food and drinks.

Cons

The people who actually have a harder time are those on the front lines running events, organizing concerts, and handling various marketing plans. The back-office departments actually keep regular hours, and most of the time there is basically nothing to do (it was already like this before the pandemic). Also, someone mentioned that the company has a coffee machine with free coffee. First of all, this company's environment is extremely dirty, with a great many cockroaches. Once, I opened the coffee machine and found many cockroaches crawling out of it, which made me wonder whether the coffee I had drunk before had all come with extra ingredients..... I also heard of a colleague who left coffee on their desk for several hours and, upon returning, ended up drinking a cockroach.... If you are a germaphobe or afraid of cockroaches, absolutely do not go there, because cockroaches also crawl around near your seat. My job at the time was basically to keep swatting cockroaches on my desk all day ^^

Pros

Organizing events is rewarding; you can learn about many different aspects and broaden your horizons.

Cons

During peak seasons, the working hours are extremely long. Working over 200 hours a month is just the norm, and exceeding 300 hours is also very common.

It is a large publicly listed company, but the pay is relatively low, and the base salary is not high.

There is overtime pay for extra hours, but it is calculated based on 184 hours per month. If you do not exceed that threshold, you will not receive any overtime pay; once you exceed it, you get an additional NT$120 for each extra hour.

Any leave that cannot be taken because of the heavy workload simply accumulates, with more and more piling up. It is not converted into money. Last year, due to the impact of the pandemic, the company encouraged everyone to use their accumulated leave. Since there was basically nothing to do at the company anyway, people were encouraged to use up their accumulated leave ^^.

The work is relatively hazardous, so you need to pay close attention to your personal safety.

There are many factions. Almost all managers and coworkers belong to one faction or another, so you need to know how to socialize and build relationships.

Pros

Flexible working hours

Cons

A company run by personal relationships; a department manager’s status determines the extent of the department’s power, and management policies change constantly.

An after-hours responsibility system; although working hours are flexible, overtime is unpaid, compensatory leave and annual leave accumulate indefinitely and are not converted into salary.

Salary is on the low-to-moderate side (depending on the department); factionalism is prevalent, the company is full of “senior colleagues,” and you need to understand how to “socialize.”

Pros

A sense of accomplishment from the work

Cons

As a publicly listed company, it seriously violates the Labor Standards Act. Working hours are severely excessive—monthly working hours can easily exceed 200, and may even reach 300 hours. There is a shortage of staff, poor pay and benefits, extremely high job risks, and significant disparities in treatment between different departments within the same company. “There is no overtime pay.”
