Overall, I strongly advise everyone interested in travel e-commerce not to set foot here.
The company has been established for quite some time and can no longer be considered a startup, yet all its internal processes are even more chaotic than those of a startup.
1. Senior executives are hired without conducting reference checks beforehand. The company keeps absorbing people whose reputations in the industry are extremely poor, parachuting in people who are good at making grand claims but have terribly poor execution skills. Because of these people, the company is completely unable to operate properly. Only after all the projects have been ruined will the company "reluctantly" find a way to get these people to resign voluntarily. Those who are thick-skinned enough continue to cling on and slack off.
2. Relationships among people within the company are incredibly complicated. Office affairs are so common that they are hardly surprising. If you want to come to work and watch the drama, you could consider joining.
3. Salaries have been frozen for years. If you want your salary to grow in proportion to your years of experience, do not consider coming here, because salaries have not only been frozen for years—there may not even be an annual bonus. The company has also experienced cash-flow problems, which later led it to simply announce that there would be "neither bonuses nor year-end bonuses." It only says that bonuses will be determined based on performance. The absurd part is that the company cannot even set goals for the future, so employees have no way to earn bonuses through performance.
4. Some managers interfere excessively with employees. Some even insist on knowing about employees' LINE conversations and frequently send private messages asking about company gossip, trying to weed out employees who might dislike them. Office political struggles and factions are obvious, so people who simply want to work properly should especially not consider coming here. Every day, just dealing with managers' moods and preferences is exhausting, leaving no way to work properly.
5. Women should take note. One male manager really likes inviting female colleagues out for coffee and conversation. Every time, he uses discussing work outside the office as an excuse, but he clearly just wants to take women out for coffee. Some female colleagues have even reported that on several occasions, they only found out after being taken out for coffee that it was actually another social engagement organized by that manager.
If you have normal values and genuine ideals about the travel industry, do not set foot here.
“Think of the happiest thing during the interview”... Nothing, really. Although I did want to present a balanced report.
The office on Zhongshan North Road isn’t very large, with around thirty people sitting there in total. The seating density is roughly two to three people per ping, practically shoulder to shoulder. However, apparently they will be moving to a new office soon.
I interviewed in a dim meeting room at 4 p.m. Before the scheduled interview end time of 6 p.m., someone was already waiting at the door with a laptop, wanting to use the room for a meeting. It gave me the feeling that I shouldn’t have come for the interview. Moreover, no one turned on the meeting room lights the entire time until I left.
The interviewer was extremely insistent on knowing my coding style and specifically asked to see the unit test code. Less than 24 hours after the interview ended, they impatiently emailed me to urge me to submit the code as soon as possible. I don’t know what the rush was. After I provided the other party with code samples, the company never contacted me again.
I suppose my abilities just weren’t good enough.
