Overtime is paid in accordance with the Labor Standards Act
You won't be missing anything you're entitled to
The pay is very high
If you're looking to coast until retirement, this is the place for you
However, the company only hires highly experienced veterans
Ten years of experience in the game industry means nothing here
There are people everywhere who have been in the industry longer than you
You basically never see newcomers to the workplace
They are currently experimenting with a survival-of-the-fittest development approach
Every department capable of launching a project is developing the same type of game
But ultimately, only one or two games will be released
As you know, making a good game isn't as simple as doing your own part well...
After joining, you need to be prepared for the possibility that no finished product will be released for three years
Also, mainland Chinese people actually look down heavily on Taiwanese people
Anything Taiwanese people say is treated as bullshit
Anything mainland Chinese people say is treated as correct
Unless the department you work in has a high degree of autonomy
Otherwise, you will inevitably have to deal with mainland Chinese colleagues and executives
The HR representative was easy to talk to and very polite, and seemed to be an HR professional who was well informed about the industry.
The interviewing manager was also quite easy to talk to, and the atmosphere was pretty good. The junior colleague sitting beside them didn’t say much, occasionally asking a few questions.
Overall, the experience was pretty good.
If I had to point something out, the HR representative kept probing into details about my previous work. Of course, I was willing to discuss what was appropriate depending on the situation, but it still didn’t feel that great.
The HR staff were very polite and courteous.
The review process was fairly quick.
The job responsibilities and benefits were explained in detail.
The location is right next to an MRT station.
The company’s environment is clean, bright, and has a strong sense of design.
After the interview, the HR staff courteously asked how I felt about the interview.
After speaking with the interviewer, we also shook hands, which felt very polite.
Before the interview, you have to fill out a résumé, which includes a question asking for your views on the current gaming market.
First, it was quite unexpected, so I didn’t know what to write; second, there was only enough space for about two lines.
I didn’t really understand why this question was included.
If you are going to the interview, I suggest thinking about how to express your views on the gaming market in two or three lines.
The HR representative was polite and courteous, and the explanations regarding the company's policies and procedures were accurate and thorough.
It feels like a company that takes care of its people.
The interviewer was rude as usual (probably from mainland China).
One person mainly asked the questions while the other scrolled on their phone,
and they even stepped out two or three times during the interview. In the end, they said they didn't really have anything to ask.
The related project seems to have been stalled for a year and a half, and the position I applied for had been posted online for quite a long time.
The interviewer said the project needed someone to decide on its highlights,
and also said that if there were highlights, it could even be redone. However, I wasn't applying for a producer position... What exactly?
The entire interview lasted about 30 minutes.
It gave me the impression that the project wasn't actually in a hurry to find someone for the position.
I genuinely think that if you're not in a hurry to hire, you're just wasting everyone's time.
P.S. This position is still posted online—it has been up for at least four months now (wink).
None
I received a phone interview invitation right after submitting my résumé, and we scheduled a time for the interview. However, the interview lasted only 10 minutes, and the interviewer was extremely disrespectful to the interviewee. In an enclosed space, the interview was interrupted three times by other people. In the end, because the interviewer had a meeting to attend, they hurriedly ended the interview. They did not apologize at all when the interview was interrupted, but kept asking, “Is the interview over? Are we finished?” Extremely disrespectful to the interviewee.
A mainland Chinese-funded company. By Taiwan’s game industry standards, the salary and leave benefits are quite good. There are two days off every week, and public holidays are observed as normal. Overtime is not encouraged, and overtime pay is provided in full according to regulations.
However, since the headquarters are on the mainland, business trips are fairly frequent, though sufficient travel allowances are provided.
The downside is that the company does not recruit many newcomers, instead mainly seeking engineers, artists, and planners with hands-on experience who can contribute immediately. In addition, you often need to interact with personnel at the mainland headquarters; their customs and terminology are somewhat different, so it takes time to adjust.
