I worked at the Tainan plant for about four months. Both the production floor and the office were predominantly staffed by women, and the work was relatively simple and not particularly demanding for men. However, since there were many women on the production floor, you were expected to help out and shoulder more of the workload. More importantly, the company’s policies were not very clear, and there was no year-end bonus (according to what I heard from senior employees). After working there for three months, there was still no sign of the salary increase that had been mentioned during the interview. Most outrageously, it was only after I had been there for more than three months that I discovered the company had not enrolled me in labor and health insurance. I was not the only one—others who joined the company at the same time as I did were also not covered. When I asked the director of the Tainan plant (who should be considered the plant manager), he only said that the person responsible at the Taoyuan plant (the head office) had “forgotten” to enroll us. This was an extremely outrageous and absurd explanation. In the end, the general manager said that the labor insurance and labor pension contributions deducted from my salary for the previous months would be refunded and that my health insurance would be made up for. However, I was only given this assurance on the last day of my employment, after I had pushed the issue to the limit. The relevant personnel at the Tainan plant also kept passing the buck, and on my final day of employment they simply stopped dealing with it and gave me the general manager’s phone number, telling me to contact him myself. So, if you work at this company, you really have to be careful and look out for yourself. I’m honestly just glad I resigned.
