Very tiring and demanding, but time passes quickly. I tough it out during class and collapse on the bed as soon as I get home.
I used to work here. The conditions were mostly very harsh, yet the pay was very low. Other than lunch, there were practically no benefits. I almost never left work on time. I regularly worked overtime back then, and I couldn’t leave work on time to get to school for classes. I also couldn’t understand why I had to compete with coworkers for access to the bridge machine; honestly, there was no need to use a bridge outside.
Although you can learn technical skills from the job, the experience is of very little help when applying to systems manufacturers in the technology industry or networking-equipment manufacturers in the electronics industry. Moreover, due to price-cutting competition from mainland China, the relevant skills have already become highly saturated. What you learn there therefore offers very little competitiveness. After leaving, I worked as a mechanical engineer in consumer electronics. Getting hired had nothing to do with the experience from this job; instead, I took online courses and studied on my own after leaving, then passed the interview and exam.
Many senior engineers offer online courses, and what they teach is much deeper and more difficult than what you learn in this job. The experience is not very useful; taking online courses is more practical than figuring things out on the job. I regret having worked here before. It may be suitable as a part-time job while you are in school, but it is not suitable long term.
Colleagues are willing to teach and are courteous. The work atmosphere is great, and it’s very friendly to newcomers—suitable for building up your skills.
You can learn a lot, and see many different products and manufacturing processes.
Very suitable for newcomers in their first 1–3 years after entering the workforce (who are willing to learn and don’t care much about salary) as their first stepping stone in the workplace.
But as for staying long-term... really, don’t do it just yet XD
The salary barely improves.
The working hours tend to be long. Basically, aside from the administration department and newcomers, people who handle projects generally work around 30–40 hours of overtime; there are also people who work 80–90 hours of overtime.
This place follows the principle of finishing today’s work today, so it’s very common to suddenly have to work overtime just when you’re about to get off work.
Because you can learn a lot + the working hours are long + there are issues with the salary structure,
I feel that turnover here is relatively high. Almost every month, people are joining, and almost every month, people are leaving.
Basically, the work atmosphere is pretty good. My department is relatively straightforward, and everyone is male, so people are direct with each other. Everyone is polite, and if we have free time, we chat casually.
The things we make are diverse and well-known. Major overseas companies all come to this company, so if you want more exposure and practice drawing, you can give it a try.
The overtime is really serious—basically, you’ll exceed the working-hour limit (lol).
If you really care about working overtime beyond the scheduled hours, don’t come here.
You need to have a very high tolerance for stress. Once things get busy, they’re not kidding around—you’ll really work yourself to the bone ((but it’s still not to the point of dropping dead).
There are countless reasons for overtime.
Sometimes they don’t tell you that you need to work overtime until right before you’re about to get off work.
